1. Regular risk analysis
We conduct risk analyses by country and commodity at regular intervals in order to identify sustainability risks early on – such as those relating to child labor, environmental protection, corruption, violations of freedom of association or violations of human rights. This enables us to determine which suppliers are subject to increased risk and to take preventive measures. We use media and database research in order to review cases of actual sustainability and compliance violations. We systematically follow up on all reports.
2. Audits of new suppliers before the contracts are concluded
Particularly in the case of new suppliers from high-risk countries, our auditors ask specific questions concerning their compliance with sustainability standards during on-site assessments. Where necessary, we also conduct more extensive reviews.
3. Self-Assessment Questionnaire
For us it is a top priority that our suppliers observe sustainability standards with regard to human rights, labor standards, business ethics as well as the environment and safety – at each of their locations worldwide. That is why, in collaboration with other automotive manufacturers, we have developed a standardized online questionnaire for evaluation of our suppliers' sustainability management functions. We have entrusted the service provider NQC Ltd. with the administration of the online questionnaire. Completing the questionnaire offers your company the possibility to evaluate the status of your sustainability performance and help it to identify any discrepant as well as excellent aspects of their sustainability management functions.

4. Escalation process
In the event of a suspected or actual violation of our sustainability standards by a supplier, we follow an established escalation process, which begins with a request for an explanation of the measures taken to remedy the irregularities. If any doubts remain, we seek direct contact with the supplier or demand a written statement from the supplier's company management. All suspected violations are examined by the responsible management committees. We work very closely together with the employee representatives when dealing.
